Oxfam

Founded in 1942 and led by Oxfam International, Oxfam is a confederation of 19 independent charitable organisations dedicated to the alleviation of poverty around the world.

Oxfam operates in over 90 countries, with its work broadly separated into two categories; emergency response, and long-term issues.  The emergency response programmes include responding to natural disasters, disease outbreaks, conflict and refugee crises. At any given time, Oxfam’s teams are responding to an average of 25 emergencies worldwide.  Long term issues range from Food & Water, Health & Education, Women’s Rights and Businesses & Poverty, to Conflicts & Disasters, Aid & Development, Citizens’ Rights and the Climate Emergency.

BFT is proud to have donated £5,000 to support the vital work that Oxfam is doing in the UK and worldwide.
